These Are the Two Times of Year to Service Your HVAC

Where would we be without our HVAC systems?

Well, we know the answer to that, actually – we would be too hot in the summer and shivering in the winter.

We would be uncomfortable more often without the air conditioners that help filter dust, allergens, and humidity out of the air in our homes.

With all of the things that they do for us, it’s important to take the time to check up on your heating and cooling systems to make sure they’re running at their very best during the times when you need them most.

Don’t wait until something goes wrong – get your HVAC serviced regularly. Here’s what you need to know:

Get Your Cooling System Inspected in the Spring

We recommend having your AC unit inspected, serviced, and cleaned once every year, preferably in the spring months. It’s important to make sure your air conditioner is running at peak efficiency after laying dormant for the winter, but before the sweltering summer months hit.

As your air conditioner runs, dust and other particles can build up in its condensing coils and air filters, causing it to lose up to five percent of its operating efficiency, according to this great blog at Angie’s List. A brief, yearly checkup on your unit can save you money on your monthly bills by improving your system’s efficiency and extending the life of your unit, preventing catastrophic – and costly – breakdowns down the line.

When your HVAC-licensed technician arrives, make sure he or she inspects the motor, the blower, the drain line, the coils, your general operating pressures and temperatures, the return and supply lines, the refrigerant levels, and all of your system’s connections.

Inspecting and servicing these small parts in the spring can make a huge difference for your comfort – and your pocketbook – come the summer. And once the weather starts to cool…

Have Your Heating Inspected in the Fall

In addition to changing your air filters regularly – in most cases, monthly – it’s important to have your heating inspected by a licensed professional once every year. Why not schedule this maintenance for the fall, before the Dallas winter really starts to bite?

Having your furnace routinely inspected and tuned can make an enormous difference for your winter. Not only does having an inspection help prevent sudden breakdowns, but an untreated furnace can be a health hazard. An inspector can help spot potential carbon monoxide leaks in gas units, which can be fatal if left undetected. And on top of all that, an inspection will make sure your unit is running as efficiently as possible, helping you conserve energy and cash each month.

Angie’s List ably details what to expect from a furnace inspection here: Your licensed technician will clean your system, lubricate moving parts, check the operating controls and thermostat, and test all of your electrical connections, among other tasks.

And of course, if anything goes wrong with your HVAC system at any time of year, Combat is here to help! Our team is ready, day or night, to handle all of your HVAC needs. Drop us a line! Our dedicated, experienced team is waiting and excited to help.
